Innovative development
Leading in technology
The city of Eindhoven is a technology leader. And Genneper Parken is no exception. This is partly demonstrated by the collaboration with the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven and partly by the many innovative and technology-driven developments within Genneper Parken, particularly in the area of sports science.
Training facilities and methods
The training facilities and methods that Trainingscentrum de Tongelreep has developed in collaboration with InnosportLab based on detailed feedback from the Netherlands’ world-class swimmers and coaches are typical of the emphasis on innovative development at Genneper Parken. These products and techniques help swimmers improve their performance. Examples include the underwater camera system, called the Vision Training System, which precisely records each individual movement swimmers make, the Swimstart system that teaches swimmers how to improve their starting technique and the TimePoint system that accurately logs the time taken to swim a length.
Philips Lighting
In addition to the training facilities and methods, Genneper Parken is also actively involved in developing innovative light-based solutions for athletes. This is a joint project with Philips Lighting. The wake-up light alarm is an example of an innovative solution that uses light. The alarm emits light half an hour before the swimmer needs to get up and ensures that the swimmer appears at the starting block in the morning feeling fit and well rested. This light therapy programme is supported by Philips and Eindhoven’s Technical University.
